Hanging By A Moment
Day 1, 19th feb, Tues – Bought my first mineral water which cost 12 ringgit. And a sandwich roll for 20. Concluded that I don’t really like plane rides after all, and to top that off the, after running around campus and waiting for a whole hour to get the bank account done plus the QV-BigW shopping trip, totally tipped me off, aching all over. Declined invitation to join Karishma’s family and her dad’s friend to dinner. Sorry >.< no photos too. lol.
Day 2 – More shopping, highlight of the day- Docklands and Port Melbourne visit led by Kari’s Auntie Sheela, finally a luxurious dinner at Sails on the Bay. 37.80 for lamb racks, ringgit for dollar. Totally regretted not bringing a camera.
Day 3 – Another day of supplies hunting, ended with dinner at auntie Sheela’s, this time photos included. Uber friendly auntie and cousin Ashvin of kari’s.

Day 4 – Walked to DFO after completing phone and internet line. Some factory outlet it was. Big letdown – how boring. Rest of the day in Melbourne Central again. Aus shopping is seriously so dull. But I found Baskin Robbins two scoops for 5 bucks and two Asian groceries stores woohoo :P
Day 5 – Victoria Market trip, didn’t buy anything but a dozen of fresh oysters for 12 dollars was tempting. Dined at Lygon, there were so many italian restaurants there we had to just randomly choose one which was rather packed. Auntie Sheela and family came over after dinner.

Day 6 – Woke up to Kari’s mum preparing briyani. After Auntie Sheela’s nasi lemak, from I can’t remember where, for lunch, bade farewell to Karishma’s parents and Kanishta. Thank you guys for taking such good care of me for the past few days. =) Dinner – Briyani plus Fried taugeh (bean sprout) with oyster sauce and kicap (soya sauce) and garlic and it was edible la. haha.

And then it was all Orientation Week, or as they put it, Week-O. Overall it was boring, full of lame activities like scavenger hunts beramai-ramai and sleep-encouraging subject lectures to ‘prepare’ us for the first week of the semester. Crashed the commerce society’s bar hopping and boy all the people formed a line crossing the roads and caused this huge jam it was so cool. :P Kari Sally YihWern Darmick LeRoy and Mots (oh not forgetting Lorraine lol) planned to head to some club called Seven, stayed behind cuz if I were to go I’d just fall sick after that. Thanks to carrying the printer and lab coats and 80gsm papers and dissection kits all the way from the union house before that. And thank god I declined to go to the club cuz apparently they were denied entry as they weren’t in some guest list. =.= Had some pretty nice alone time instead.

So apparently there’s a huge student union party tonight, contemplating whether to crash but need to pay 10bucks. Ho hum. Where are all the cool free orientation parties man, aren’t Australians known for their drinking and clubbing all night long? Oh well, I guess I’ll have to wait for the weekend, but some peace and serenity isn’t all that bad. :P
Can’t wait for lectures to start but dreading them starting as well.
Missing home,
Fern.
