I Swear
by the moon and the stars in the sky
Originally wanted to brush up and finish uploading the photos about THE wedding, for your reading pleasure, probably sien’s only but whatev..
But ended up with a big time mishap in the family today, cousin (Boon Aun – and girlfriend Chin chin if you’re wondering, sien) got into a car accident on the North-south so you can imagine the drama all day with the phone calls, the going over to gma’s house, the conditions of everyone involved in the car and the concern over who’s going down there, the occasional updates about the hospital transfer, the typical “grandma gu-ma neighbour friend also crowding in the emergency room” scenario in Island hospital come nightfall.. you get the picture.
Seeing the disappointed look through second uncle’s eyes (probably accumulated through all the things the son has done which probably someone would update you on, sien), rooted next to a crying second auntie, with third uncle pacing outside the house in the middle of the waiting for a phone call from all the way there, mum worried sick for the nephew she had a hand bringing up, the amount of people rushing to the hospital once they knew the ambulance was reaching and like in trafalgar square we were like in 2 lines bracing ourselves for the arrival of the siren, you could literally smell the love and concern when they all hover over him in a wheelchair voicing their worries by asking the same thing over and over again, only in different ways.
On the way back home, the downhearted conversation between mum and third uncle about the things he have done till how you will always have that plague of fear and concern over your children which will never ever go away until you close both your eyes forever, will literally make your heart sink if you imagine yourself looking into their anguished eyes if you ever let them down.
So I guess bottomline is i would swear if i can, “by the moon and the stars in the sky“, to try the very best, from now till the end of time, to never cause any despair or apprehension of any sort to them, mum and dad especially, and the whole extended family who proved they’ll be there, even if they are considered as kaypo. And never to point and laugh and complain at these typical scenarios where 20 relatives staying and crowding for 2 patients, even if they annoyed me or were obstructing traffic, cuz i guess most of them really do care, and just wanted to be there, even though they know they can’t do no good or help, I guess that’s why they’re family.

sorry to hear about your cousin and his gf, how are they now?

Sally,
I have 10 uncles + aunts and we really really do call them by the numbers.
Fern,
You are smart, you’re a kid that loves your parents, which is a point i respect personally.
you are blessed to even have your eyes opened on the fact that you’ll not going to let your parents down, and 1 thing I can bet all in is, that you’re going to succeed in whatever that you do or you hope to do. I believe in you.
you’re doing good enough already, althou it might not be the best that you can do, but you’re putting in an effort which everyone can clearly see,
so, what the heck! Live life, love and laugh.
